Lara Bone

can i just say, david walliams is a lucky bloke. look at the kajunga's on lara stone in april vogue...? i can't even say any more they are just absolutely exceptional. serious 'girl crush', as much as i hate that expression.
styled by Kate Phelan

i love her hair slicked back like this with the scuba wet look going on, it's amazing but i cant imagine joe soap pulling it off. she's wearing a julien macdonald swimsuit with a mesh neckline that costs approx. £320, unsure of what it would be in euros. LOOK at them bleached eyebrows. oh my god.

the laddered knit mini is mark fast (£783). in fairness i could probably make one myself with my eyes closed. also mad about the nike hi-tops (£65). the fact that her fingernails are clean makes me like this picture 100% more than i do already.

yummy.
so here are some shots from my 'futurvision' project. i'm pretty happy with how they turned out, for the limitations and facilities that we had to work around. it's pathetic that we only had 15 minutes each and for the record, i probably wouldn't bother using these for a book. i guess it's all practice. none of these have been edited they're literally straight from the cd. photography by paul sherwood, model is my friend cara. she done her own make up, she's a mac girl.

FUTUREVISION

i had alot of shit written here and my internet crashed and blogger never saved it as a draft. f*ck you, blogger. also fu*k you, firefox. so i'm not typing it up again as i have essays and reports to write up.
so i'll just post the pictures and maybe another day when i feel better i'll post more about it. getting the pictures from the actual shoot back at the end of the month and it can't come quick enough.
PS: my friend cara modeled for me which was awesome because she is super pretty. she done her make up herself. she works in mac. and is very important there. enough said.

a win / lose situation.

so i was having a browse on this infectious thing called the internet, doing some ''research'' for college and gracing www.style.com with my presence, when i came across some designers that i had never actually bothered to look at properly before. i have fallen in love with one, in particular. and another, who i would be very familiar with, has made me actually want to die.
so i'll harp on about the good stuff first. i was looking through moschino cheap & chic, and between the eye catching heart-shaped bubblegum pink back drop on the catwalk, the optimistic colour popping prints, and the statement accessories, i just couldn't get enough. 35 looks just didn't do it for me, i wanted more. and still do. taking inspiration from the sixties, there are lots of ruffles, there are patchworks, bloomers, thigh high dresses, ankle grazing dresses, crisp white blouses, A-line double breasted jackets, and a quirky take on men's formal wear. shoes were accompanied by laces of what i made out to be satin ribbons, tied into lovely on-trend bows. correct me if i am wrong.
as far as hair and make up goes, there were fresh faces, pink lips and cheeks, and pony tails. simplicity, which was refreshing. full of wit and charm. all in all, very girly and cheeky, or should i say ''chic-y'', haha. no.

anyway i was going to pick just 4 favourite looks, but if 35 wasnt enough... so i've picked 8. and here they are...

so there you have it. if i had to choose, it would be the white dress, 2nd from the right in the top 4. i just realized how small those images are, apoligies. amazing work, Rossella Jardini. keep it up.

now onto a not so flattering collection... i've just looked at it a second time, and decided that some pieces are wear-able, but is he actually taking the piss out of the boys? again, we see lots of bright colours, denim, lace, and leather, but for the boys too...? yeah, lace... i just don't know, if someone can help me out, please do. because i'm struggling with this one.

i'm all for edgy and quirky fashion, but since when are men ALLOWED to wear lace tshirts? these poor guys look proper humiliated. i'm not a fan of the ill-fitting trousers above, either. i just don't know what to say, henry.
as for the ladies, i picked 3 things that i would wear out of this collection. a sleeveless shirt dress, a denim two piece, and an over sized/ off the shoulder jumper. you would see these for sure on the high street, i'm not just being nonchalant, because i have enjoyed other collections of his, but i can't appreciate the majority of this one.

tangerine lace, wet-look tshirts, half denim/ half lace dresses. speechless.

bitch, out.

Go get your shovel, and we'll dig a deep hole.

so I'm back, maybe. college has slapped me in the face since i've been back, many times. i've had to organize work experience, and start some serious brainstorming for the next shoot which is on the 8th of feb, which gives us an extra week, which is cool.
the theme this time is ''future vision'', and abstract aspects from mechanical objects. we've to make an accessory, a garment, and a bag. my imagination is working, thats for sure.
for my accessory, i'm planning on making some sort of hood, maybe a draped jersey kind of thing, because i already tried another stiff-ish type of fabric and it didn't work out so well. either a hood, a collar, or a shin or arm guard. why do i need a shin or arm guard? i don't know. only the future can figure that out.
my garment will be something for the bottom half this time, as for printed textiles we have to feature a print (clearly, this time with lino as opposed to a stencil) on a tshirt/dress/top of our choice. i semi cheated and bought a tacky number in that shop 'catch' just off liffey street. does anyone know it? yeah. there.
the idea of the bag is to revolve around ''iNess'' like iPods, iTunes... basically my tutor thinks that iAnything relates to the future, which, fair enough, it may. she has some of the wildest ideas ever. i appreciate her, alot. but anyway the bag has to be made from a paper bag. or a card bag. and we've to combine materials and come up with another way for the bag to be worn in everyday life. so my plan is to put it on wheels and attach a lead to it, as though it were a pet. i'm quite happy with this idea, i just hope i can find a 4-pack of wheels.

VIKTOR & ROLF SS 2010
i'm so fucking impressed with this collection, i just can't even understand it. well, i can but it's quite mind blowing. the pastel colours in general this season are so pretty i can't explain how into them i am. they remind me of those flying saucers you used to eat when you were a kid? the choice of music for the catwalk fits the show perfectly, too. roisin murphy, who has been growing on me alot lately, performed live at the show at Paris Fashion Week, even sporting a some V&R on herself.

in love with those shin pieces. what do you even call them. delicious, i'm thinking.
anyway, my laptop battery is at 7% and i'm super tired from experimenting with my making of hoods and sewing in general. i deserve some winks. i'll leave you all with this ''unofficial'' video for a tune by roisin herself, orally fixated... happy blogging.

eat me,
AX.

Happy New Year

i was going to post something but i am not in the humor of writing anything.

Dec 16, 2009

Hey forever...

so I haven't been on in a long while. i've been kind of busy. i'm not going to lie and say i haven't stopped, because i have. i've slept, and i feel like i needed it.

i saw lily allen in the o2 this time last week, on the 8th. she was pretty awesome. as much as i love her, i wasn't expecting her to be so good. i know that's a filthy thing to say but i wasn't. she was amazing, she looked incredible and her voice was pretty sweet too. i didn't get any photo's because i thought cameras were like, banned. well, they weren't to my annoyance. and my memory is rubbish so i'll have snippits for a limited time only. i'm embarrassed to say i got kind of emotional, i bought her latest album last christmas, or around then, and it was when all this stuff started. and i remember my mam telling me that 'the fear' will always remind her of me. which i don't really understand because she never really explained why. there was another song that got to me 'he wasn't there', for obvious reasons. it was just a great show and i really enjoyed it. respect.

i had my photoshoot on the 31st of november after, the Victorian one, it went okay, could have done ten times better but sure i'll know for the next time. it's all about learning, right? i would go into detail but maybe some other time. ''here's your best shot...''

my mam bought me a sick dress as one of my christmas gifts. she gave it to me like last week. i know, i don't get it either. anyway it's really cute, i love it. it's from SAVIDA at Dunnes, and it was dirt cheap, 20euro to be precise (with her 25% discount). it's not the best picture, but still. and i'm definitely not into the leather jacket with it either. i was thinking black fur. there's alot more potential belt-wise.

i don't know why but lately i'm infatuated with all these bodies and bralets. i just can't get enough of them. well, of looking at them. american apparel have had such a huge selection of bodies for so long, i just never really thought of them in any other aspect apart from disco dancing costumes. i'm very into lace, too. we have a body in River Island in a nude colour with no sleeves, its very nice but i don't know how it would look against pale skinned me. anyway i put a few together that are my faves...

i think that one is my number one. by far. i don't know how good my boobs would look in it though. maybe they would look like they don't exist. they're not the biggest.

to end i just want to take this opportunity express my love for alice dellal, lara stone, and riley keough, elvis' late grandaughter. they're all so beautiful.

Victorian Heiress Wakes up in 2010.

so we had our fashion shoot on monday, today is wednesday. i didn't go to college yesterday, i stayed in bed until about half 5. i was pretty tired. it turned out okay i guess. i wish i had done more. the fact that i was a little behind to begin with was some of the reason but that's no excuse really. i'll just know for next time.
the theme was 'Victorian heiress wakes up in 2010'. it was all very girly and fun. there were no limits for us really i just think i should have maybe done more sketches and put some more effort into it. you could say i was a little lost. it was all so new, and still kind of is. but i know the drill now.
i brought some props in, all from sean's house. an end table, a miniture ruby velor chair to match the table, an old school radio (which might not have been victorian but...) a beautiful gold clock that looked like the same one out of a David LaChapelle picture. you know the one with the 'pope' in it? some fake flowers, some photo frames, and a laptop. i had such little time with the photographer which i was so pissed about. i wanted so many different poses, didnt get any standing up. DEVASTATED.
anyway here is her look, i'll be getting the proper pictures back on monday so i'll post them then.

this picture doesn't do the look any justice but sure it will have to do.

our next theme is futuristic. i think. i have alot in my brain for that one.
